Turmeric & Honey Face Mask

Sometimes acne and dark spots can be troublesome to manage and trying to figure out which brand of product is best for our skin can be overwhelming and disappointing, especially if it doesn’t do justice.

Although I like to give products a trial run, I am still a firm believer of natural products.  And most of these facial brands produce different products with different natural ingredients.  So why not just use the actual ingredient?

Turmeric is an Indian spice that is good for your body and your skin.  It is one of the few spices which have significant benefits when used externally.

The Pros of using Turmeric:

  • inexpensive and most likely won’t go to waste
  • helps fight against existing and developing acne
  • helps to fade acne scars and dark spots
  • has anti-bacterial anti-inflammatory agents
  • softens the skin
  • stimulates the tightening of skin to maintain a youthful look


  1. Turmeric stains materials (so be careful when using this!)
  2. Don’t overuse the turmeric mask.  It is a mask after all, so it shouldn’t be used every day.

How to make Turmeric mask:

  1. Put 1 tablespoon of turmeric and 1 tablespoon of honey in a bowl (preferably a glass bowl). Mix the 2 together with a teaspoon until it produces a smooth paste.
  2. Apply the paste evenly on your face, avoiding your eye area.  Use the back of the teaspoon to apply as the cold sensation helps with blood circulation.
  3. Leave on for 20-30 minutes.
  4. Rinse thoroughly using lukewarm water and / or a gentle cleanser.

I like to use this mask every 2 weeks to see significant results.
